We are delighted to announce that we’ve been granted charitable status by the Charity Commission! To do this we had to outline our charitable purpose – for us that’s to advance musical education by providing training to flautists, teachers and musicians of all ages, and to further public education and appreciation of flute music by performing music to a high standard. Being a charity means that we can apply for grants and can claim gift aid on donations. We’re really fortunate to have access to a variety of flutes but the one that would help complete our sound is a Contrabass. We’ve been fundraising for one for a number of years, and our new status will certainly help us to get there. This will increase the number of pieces we can play and increase interest in playing – we’re always asked a lot of questions about our Alto and Bass flutes, particularly by children!
